Planning a Baby Shower and want to do something beyond the obvious? Why not try out one of these ideas?
1) Cravings Baby Shower
Ask the Mom to be what her major cravings are and build a baby shower around that theme. Check out some fun ways to celebrate a cravings baby shower theme!
2) Diaper Baby Shower
This is a perfect theme for not just new Moms but for 2nd Baby Showers as well. In the invitation request guests to bring a package of disposable diapers or a package of Cloth Diapers and/or Diapering accessories depending on which way the Mom-to-be plans to diaper. You could also make or order a diaper cake for the mom-to-be to keep and put it out as a centrepiece for the party. You could take the theme even further and use cloth napkins folded like old-school diapers and fastened with diaper pins.
3) Diaper Shirt Painting Shower
Provide plain diaper shirts in various sizes, fabric paint, brushes, stencils and anything else fun you can find on hand at a craft shop to decorate shirts with. Have each guest decorate a diaper shirt for baby to wear. Baby will have a years worth of personalized clothing and your guests will have tons of fun!
4) Build-Baby’s-Library Shower
In the invitation ask your guests to buy a baby or children book rather than bringing a card. They should be able to get books at about the same cost as a card but the books will actually get used, and can still be signed from the giver, just like a card.
5) Gender Reveal Baby Shower
If the Mom to be is planning to find out the gender prior to the birth this is a fun way to share the news. Check out Moms & Munchkins for fabulous ideas to make your gender reveal party a huge hit!
6) Stock the Freezer Shower
This is a perfect shower theme for those who have most of what they need and Mom and Dad will have food to eat during that hectic period when they’re adjusting to life with a newborn. This also works great for showers held after the baby has arrived. If mom-t0-be does not have a lot of shower space, the organizer could also arrange to have some of the food stored and delivered periodically.
7) Safety Shower
Ask guests to bring baby proofing gadgets as gifts to the shower such as outlet plugs, safety gates, cabinet locks etc… You could even have the guests do the baby proofing if the shower is held at the future home of the baby!
8) Send a Message to Baby Shower
Give each guest a piece of card-stock and a sharpie and have them write a special message for baby. Take a picture of each guest holding up their message to later be assembled into an album.
9) Nursery Set-Up Shower
This shower will need to be held at the home of the parents-to-be and works great with co-ed showers. Have the guests get to work on the baby’s room by assigning some to setup the crib and any other nursery furniture, others to paint or hang decorations, curtains etc… It may be a good idea to mention that no gifts are expected in the invitation so as to not come off as being cheeky!
Have you been to a shower with a particularly fun and memorable theme?
