Ipsy Glam Bag August 2014 Reveal

Each month, Ipsy subscribers receive a beautiful Glam Bag with 4-5 deluxe samples or full-sized beauty products.  The cost is $10 a month (or $110 for a full year’s 12 Glam Bags) which is pretty reasonable.   Shipping is free in the US but Shipping to Canada is USD $4.95 per month.

August’s Glam Bag is “Beauty Schooled” and comes with a white and orange pencil case shaped bag.  Not my favourite bag so I will be giving it to my daughter to play with.

Perversion Mascara by Urban Decay

Bigger. Blacker. Badder. Urban Decay’s ultra-creamy, lengthening and volumizing mascara features triple-black pigments and a deeply nourishing ingredient blend. Perversion Mascara gets you sexy in one stroke, yet it won’t quit until you say when.

I love the wand and formula, it is bold and dramatic and builds up pretty well.  It also wears quite well.  Easily my favourite product this month!

Organic Grapefruit Lip Balm by Bee All Natural

Pure and natural organic lip balm that soothes and heals dry, chapped lips. A light and refreshing blend of organic beeswax and organic oils – Bee All Natural’s Lip Balm draws moisture to chapped lips, and seals it in without leaving lips feeling sticky or greasy.

I love that this product is organic and natural plus it does work well at making my lips feel moisturized.  The grapefruit scent is OK but I think I’d like to try out a different scent.

Reviving Spray by Free Your Mane

Beach hair or bed head, we’ve got you covered.

Free Your Mane Reviving Spray gives your do a fresh start without making you start from scratch. This versatile spray plays well with other products — reviving them (get it?) without weighing down your locks.

Tousle your strands without that pesky frizz plain water can leave behind, or apply it before heat styling for a soft, workable hold while protecting — with regular use, improving — your hair’s health.

In addition to being paraben-free like all our products, it’s also free of drying saline or alcohol like some other beach sprays. Our Reviving Spray is a blend of Baobab Seed Oil from Africa, ultra-moisturizing Argan Oil from Morocco, anti-oxidant-rich Pomegranate Seed Oil, and Sweet Almond Oil.

Free Your Mane products hydrate, nourish, and repair for unmatched performance, softness, and shine. Welcome to the family!

My hair is thick and curly and I loved this product.  It did help with next day frizz on the days I neglected to straighten my hair before bed.  I am not sure about the scent though, it smells good but almost manly?  I think they were going for a beach scent.

Silk Kajal Kohl Eye Pencil by Lord & Berry

Sensual and exotic, that’s the effect that Silk Kajal Kohl Eye Pencil delivers. Just like the traditional Kohl, but with the modern ease and control of a pencil. Giving a semi-matte finish that is also smudgeable, Silk Kajal Kohl’s soft tip is ophthalmologically-tested and gentle enough to be used on the inner eye. Also available in Nudo and White.

This eye pencil was disappointing between the size of the sample and the wear.  It smudges way too easily which is not a quality I want in an eye liner.  Not a fan.

Sheer Glo by Manna Kadar Cosmetics

Sheer Glo is an incandescent liquid that lights up skin with all over radiance. Mix with foundation or wear alone to provide a luminous glow for all skin types. An especially amazing product for mature or dry skin. Sheer Glo provides a youthful glow and dewy finish. Use on face and/or body and get glowing.

Key Benefits:
• Universal Shade
• Mix with foundation for a dewy glow
• Use as highlighter on cheeks
• Mix with lotion for an all over body glow

It’s shimmery and great if you are going for a dewy glow.  I think its kind of cute but maybe more appropriate for 20 year olds.

Overall I was a bit disappointed with the contents of this glam bag.  I’ve definitely had far better bags and hoping next month will make up for this.
