Tips for Best Results
- Cook the beef just right
Brown until no pink remains, then stop. Overcooking can make the meat dry once the sauce is added. - Drain excess grease
Removing extra fat before adding the sauce keeps the filling rich and flavourful, not greasy. - Mix the sauce separately
Stirring it together first ensures a smooth, evenly balanced flavour throughout the beef. - Finely dice the pickles
Smaller pieces distribute that signature tangy flavour more evenly in every bite. - Warm the taco shells
Heating them briefly improves both texture and overall flavour. - Assemble just before serving
This keeps the shells from going soggy and the lettuce crisp.

Ingredients & Substitutions
Meat – Use lean ground beef for best results, if you use a higher fat content ground then make sure you drain any fat from the pan before adding the sauce. Ground chicken or turkey are good options too!
Sauce – Do not substitute with thousand island dressing, it is not the same as big mac sauce. Use real mayo, not miracle whip.
Toppings – Onions, cheddar cheese and shredded iceberg lettuce.
