Storing Leftover 7 Layer Dip

Ensure each cup is securely covered with a lid or plastic wrap to prevent air and moisture from entering, which helps maintain the dip’s quality. Keep the dip refrigerated for up to 3 to 5 days.

Avoid freezing the dip, as this can cause the ingredients to separate, diminishing the dip’s texture and taste.

About the Ingredients for 7 Layer Dip

Refried beans – Use your favourite brand of refried beans.

Taco seasoning – You can also substitute with homemade taco seasoning.

Guacamole – Store bought is a good short cut but homemade guacamole is so worth it!

Sour cream – Use your favourite sour cream. I would avoid using light sour cream though as it may not hold up well against the other layers. We can get 18% milk fat sour cream here and that is my absolute favourite.

Salsa – Use store bought or homemade tomato salsa. Pico de gallo is a good swap.

Cheese – I used shredded colby jack cheese but you can use cheddar, Monterey jack, pepper jack etc.. I would also skip the pre-shredded cheese as they just don’t taste as good as brick cheese.

Tomatoes – Fresh, ripe round tomatoes work well here. Skip the canned tomatoes.

Onions – You can garnish with a little green onions, or skip this entirely.

Olives – Black olives are a fun addition, but also optional. You could substitute with sliced jalapeno instead for a spicy kick.
