Tips for Making the BEST Bacon-Wrapped Chicken Wings

  • Be sure to pat the chicken wings dry before wrapping them in bacon.
  • Cook the bacon-wrapped chicken wings until they reach an internal temperature of 165°F or higher. This will ensure that they are cooked thoroughly, keeping them safe to eat.
  • If you want more flavour, season the chicken wings with your favourite spices before wrapping them in bacon.
  • Place a wire cooling rack over the foil and then cook the chicken on the rack. This will help ensure the bacon and chicken gets crispy all over.
  • Carefully drain off some of the fat in the baking pan halfway through cooking.

How to Store Left Over Bacon-Wrapped Chicken Wings

When you have left over bacon-wrapped chicken wings, it is important to store them properly in order to maintain safety and freshness. Here are a few tips on how to store left over bacon-wrapped chicken wings:

Place the leftover chicken wings in an airtight container or wrap them tightly with plastic wrap. This will help keep them fresh and prevent bacteria from growing.

Be sure to place the container in the refrigerator as soon as possible after cooking and cooling. Refrigerating leftovers within two hours of cooking will help reduce any potential food poisoning risks.

Reheat the chicken wings thoroughly before eating. Bacteria can still grow on cooked food, even if it has been stored in the refrigerator. To prevent illness, make sure to reheat leftover chicken wings until they reach an internal temperature of 165°F or higher.

Leftover bacon-wrapped chicken wings will keep safely in the refrigerator for up to four days. If you don’t plan to eat them within that time, freeze them for up to three months. When ready to reheat, thaw the chicken wings in the refrigerator overnight and then reheat.

To reheat, preheat your oven to 350°F and place the chicken wings on a baking sheet. Bake for 10-15 minutes, flipping once during cooking time. The internal temperature should reach 165°F when fully heated through.

About the Ingredients for Maple Bacon Wings

Chicken wings – 7-8 whole wings is about 2 lbs. For drummette and wing flats separated, you will need about 14-16 pieces.

Bacon – You definitely want thick cut bacon here, regular bacon will burn before the chicken is cooked through. If you go with a saltier bacon you may want to omit or cut back on the salt in the sauce.

Sauce – We are basically making a maple syrup barbecue sauce for the wings. You can cut down on steps here by just adding maple syrup to your favourite barbecue sauce. Use real maple syrup, and not table syrup.
