Tips for the BEST Snowball Cookies
- Sift your dry ingredients! Yes, it takes a little extra time but this will ensure you get nice and fluffy cookies.
- Soft butter. Make sure your butter is soft before you start for the best results.
- Don’t over-bake.
- Cool your cookies on the baking sheet slightly before moving to a cooling rack. Moving them too soon will cause them to break apart.
- Do not coat the cookies in powdered sugar until they are completely cooled off.
How to Store Chocolate Kiss Snowball Cookies
These cookies are best stored in an airtight container at room temperature. They will stay fresh for up to 1 week.
To freeze these cookies, you will want to flash freeze them in a single layer on a parchment paper lined baking sheet once cooked. Then simply place them in a freezer-safe bag or container and freeze for up to 3 months. When you’re ready to enjoy, thaw the cookies at room temperature.
You can also freeze the dough prior to baking. The simplest method is to form the dough balls and place onto a parchment paper lined baking sheet and flash freeze for 30 minutes. Then place the frozen dough balls in a freezer-safe bag or container and freeze for up to 3 months. When you’re ready to bake, thaw the dough balls at room temperature before baking according to the recipe instructions.
About the Ingredients for Chocolate Kiss Snowball Cookies
Butter – Unsalted butter is the best way to get consistent flavour but you can use salted and skip the additional salt.
Sugar – Just plain old white granulated sugar.
Vanilla extract – Pure vanilla extract will give the best flavour, but artificial is just fine if that is what you have on hand.
Flour – Spoon and level the flour when measuring it, or your cookies may end up too dense.
Pecans – Finely chop the pecans. You can substitute with walnuts if you like.
Hershey’s kisses – You could also mix mini chocolate chips into the dough instead.
Powdered Sugar – Icing sugar or confectioners sugar.
