Using a small pastry bag fitted with a #2 tip, and filled with the black royal icing, outline a BBQ grill.
Go over the outline of the grill again with more of the black royal icing to reinforce the icing grill.
Allow to dry for 5-10 hours. Cut the wax paper holding the completed BBQ grill into squares surrounding the image. Ensure the grills are dry, gently touch one of the images. If the images are dry peel them off the wax paper and place on the frosted cupcake.
Draw “grill marks” on each “hot dog” (Hot Tamales) using an edible marker and place on the cupcakes.

These are adorable What a cute idea thanks for sharing! Here’s a suggestion for those who are having trouble with the royal icing grills. I used melted almond bark with black food coloring mixed in they set up nicely after less than an hour.

So you say to cream butter and sugar together for the cupcakes, but in the cupcake recipe you never mention butter, so how much butter are we supposed to cream with the sugar?

@Mindy, no mention of butter. Hate Pinterest recipes for this reason. Will find another recipe to make do.

Our grill we made was still soft after like 5 hours. The piping was too thin and hard to work with. Instead of doing the grill we put mike and Ike’s and Swedish fish on toothpicks to look like we were roasting them over the fire.
