These Stained Glass Heart Cookies are a fun Valentine’s day cookie that are as easy to make as they are fun to eat. These cookies are an adorable heart-shaped treat!
Stained Glass Heart Cookies
Ingredients:
2/3 cup salted butter, softened
3/4 cups sugar
1 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1 large egg
1 tbsp milk
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 cups all purpose flour
red food dye
red jolly rancher candies, crushed
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
In a large mixing bowl, beat the butter, sugar and salt until combined.
Add egg, milk and vanilla.
Add flour and baking powder. Stir until dry ingredients are fully combined.
Color dough with red food dye.
Lightly flour your kitchen counter and roll dough out to a ⅛ of an inch. Dip a large heart cookie cutter into flour and cut out the cookies.
Place cookies onto a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper.
Dip a smaller heart cookie cutter into flour and cut a heart from the center of the large cookie heart. Remove dough.
Fill center of heart with red crushed candy.
Bake cookies at 375 degrees for 7 to 8 minutes.
Allow cookies to cool completely before removing from the cookie sheet or you will break the candy center.
