Do You Need to Boil Potatoes Before Roasting?

No, you do not need to boil potatoes before air frying. Boiling potatoes can help to make them softer on the inside, but it’s not necessary for air-fried potatoes. In fact, boiling can actually make the potatoes break apart more easily when you transfer them to the air fryer.

For perfectly crisp roasted potatoes with tender insides, simply follow the recipe as directed. The result will be perfectly crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside! Enjoy!

Tips for Crispy Roasted Potatoes

1. Cut potatoes into even-sized pieces: For the most consistent results, you’ll want to make sure that all of your potato pieces are the same size so they cook evenly.

2. Preheat the air fryer: This will ensure that your potatoes get a nice crisp texture without over- or under-cooking.

3. Use oil: Using a light coating of oil will help the potatoes to crisp up while they’re cooking.

4. Don’t overcrowd the fryer basket: If you overcrowd the air fryer, your potatoes won’t be able to get properly crisp and might end up steaming instead.

5. Don’t shake the basket: It’s important to avoid shaking the potatoes as they’re cooking, as this can cause them to break apart or become mushy.

6. Flip halfway through cooking: Halfway through cooking, flip the potato pieces over to ensure even browning.

7. Check for tenderness: The potatoes are done when they can easily be pierced with a fork.

With these tips and the right type of potato, you’ll be able to make crispy and delicious air-fried baby potatoes that your whole family will enjoy!

Which Potatoes are Best for Air Frying?

When it comes to air frying baby potatoes, the best type of potato will depend on your preferences. Generally speaking, waxy potatoes are ideal for air frying since they hold their shape better and won’t break apart as easily.

Baby or New Potatoes – New potatoes are small, potatoes with thin skin and a buttery texture that makes them excellent for air frying.

Red Potatoes – Red potatoes have a high sugar and low starch content which results in creamy insides with crisp outsides.

Yukon Gold Potatoes – Yukon gold potatoes have a buttery texture that makes them perfect for air frying and roasting.

Fingerling Potatoes – Fingerling potatoes are small, thin-skinned potatoes with a slightly sweet flavour, making them ideal for air frying.

How to Store Leftover Roasted Potatoes

Any leftover roasted potatoes can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3-4 days.

You can also freeze them for longer-term storage. To freeze, make sure to let the potatoes cool completely before transferring them to a freezer safe container or bag. Then simply thaw overnight in the refrigerator when you’re ready to reheat and enjoy.

When reheating, preheat the oven to 375°F and bake for 15 minutes or until heated through. You can also reheat them in the air fryer at 350°F for 5 minutes.
