How to Heat Treat Cake Mix of Flour
Cake mix contains flour which poses a health risk when eaten raw. To make the cake mix in the frosting safe to eat you need to heat treat it.
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and spread over it the required amount of cake mix in a thin layer.
Bake the cake mix for about 5 minutes, you should use a food thermometer to check the temperature. It is ready to use when it measures 160 degrees F.
Use a wire whisk to break up any clumps of cake mix on the baking sheet. Cool completely before using.
About the Equipment Needed to Make Extreme Cupcakes
1 large piping bag – You will need 1 piping bag.
Star decorating tip – You will need a 4B star piping tip. If you don’t already have piping tips on hand, I would recommend this Wilton Decorating Tip Set.
Cupcake pan – Just a standard size cupcake pan.
Cupcake liners – Any will do.
9×13 baking pan – For the brownies.
Stand mixer – You can do the cake mixes by hand easily, but for a perfectly fluffy frosting, I recommend using an electric mixer.
About the Ingredients for Cake Batter Brownie Cupcakes
Cake Mixes – We need chocolate cake mix (you can use any kind but the richer the better), funfettig cake mix (you can use vanilla cake mix and stir in sprinkles if needed.), and brownie mix.
Eggs – Make sure your eggs are room temperature.
Water – You can use room temperature water here, but for the best, fluffiest cupcakes, use boiling water!
Oil – Canola oil is best or vegetable oil. You want a neutral flavoured oil. You can also use melted butter which gives better flavour but can result in dry cupcakes.
Butter – Unsalted butter is best, but you can use salted if you prefer.
Powder sugar – Just regular icing sugar.
Vanilla extract – Pure vanilla extract is best but artificial is fine too.
Cocoa powder – Use unsweetened cocoa powder, not hot chocolate mix.
Cream – Whipping cream is best, but you can even use milk here.
Chocolate sauce – Just regular chocolate sauce for ice cream.
Sprinkles – Use rainbow confetti sprinkles for the best results!
